God & Country Achievement

Jacob Finn, son of  Ed and Joanne Finn, was recognized at a special ceremony at the morning worship service on May 6, 2007  celebrating his achievement in the Cub Scout "God and Me" program.  The God & Me badge is part of the Scouts "God & Country" program.  It is the only badge that follows a Scout all the way to Eagle Scout.

Jacob volunteered to enroll in the God & Country program under the supervision of Pastor Rick who selected Richard Townley as Jacob's counselor.  The program required Jacob to make a commitment of time, energy to study and to act out his faith.  He seeks to follow the example set by Jesus.  Jacob has completed the requirements of study and service for the God and Me study program.  He has earned the right and the privilege of wearing the God and Me emblem in recognition of this accomplishment.

Luke 2:40  And the child grew and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

Ceremony Prayer:

Lord, your Son has called us to grow in our learning and service for you.  Today we celebrate a milestone as Jacob has stepped up to this challenge.  We thank you for Jacob and his willingness to take this step in his learning and serving.

Holy Spirit, continue to challenge all of us to give of ourselves to the task of learning and serving so that your kingdom may become more of a reality in and through our lives.  Amen.
