Dennis & Karen Blankenship

Bethel Baptist Church of Nevada, MO - Sudan, Africa

Galmey Church began supporting Dennis and Karen in July 2010.

Dennis served as assistant pastor for 5 years and senior pastor for 11 years at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Bossier City, LA. God placed a burden on their hearts to be missionaries in Sudan, Africa in 2007. They sent whole Bibles, New Testaments, John and Romans booklets, thousands of tracts and very limited amount household goods in a 40-foot container. Dennis said, "The "Seed" is in the barn and itfs time to get it to the field." In July 2009 they left Kansas City and arrived in Kampala, Uganda to begin the paperwork and getting acclimated to living in Africa before they move to Sudan.

They said, "What a wonderful privilege we have been given to be sent by the Lord and His Church to bring light to those who sit in darkness." Their goals as missionaries to Sudan are to win souls, plant indigenous independent Baptist Churches and train the national leaders to do the same.

God has opened the door to start the South Sudan Baptist Bible Institute in Yei. They are seeking out one-time setup items such as desks, chairs, mosquito nets and mattresses for the institute. The Mere Independent Baptist Church was organized in November 2009 and is growing.

Dennis preached to a radio audience on Psalm 33:12, "Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance." He stressed that Southern Sudan can only be a blessed nation if they individually make Jesus Christ their Lord and Savior.
