Doug and Sharon Hefft became our 17th budgeted missionary in January of 2005.
Doug and Sharon are from Kansas City, MO and Doug’s parents are our church members, Dave and Meredith Hefft. They have been involved with New Tribes their entire adult lives. In 1983 they were in Colombia, South America for language study and in 1986 they began their ministry in Panama. Doug served the missionaries by providing safe, efficient air transportation in and out of their jungle allocations while Sharon’s ministry included flight following Doug by radio, hospitality and buying supplies for the missionaries. Doug was also responsible for the maintenance of the Cessna 185 he flew. In 1998 they were transferred to Venezuela and continued their ministry of mission aviation but on a larger scale. In 2003 they joined the NTM Aviation headquarters in Arizona where Doug is the manager of the Parts Department and a flight instructor.
This is an excerpt from a report they received about Inanbimali believers in Papua New Guinea. The Word of God is so precious to these people and a man expressed it this way. "Now that the Bible is starting to be translated into our language it is like drinking clean water instead of dirty. I can taste the sweet in it because it is my language. I can see the root of it so clearly." Having God’s word in their language has changed their lives!
